If you’ve just bought a computer with Windows Vista installed and your fonts look awful, especially when browsing the web, it could be because the default settings enabled by the manufacturer have font smoothing disabled.
Windows Vista included version 3.0 of the.NET Framework, allowing software developers to write applications without traditional Windows APIs. Microsoft's primary stated objective with Windows Vista was to improve the state of security in the Windows operating system. In Windows 10, you can also double-click the font file to open it and select the Install button to install it automatically. MiKTeX is available for selected operating systems. Please check the prerequisites in order to find out whether your system is supported. If your system is not (yet) supported: it is not too difficult to build MiKTeX. Miktex install package.
To make sure that ClearType is enabled, you’ll need to open the classic Appearance Settings dialog. Right click on the desktop and choose Personalize. Then click on Window Color and Appearance:
